This house for a retired couple had spectacular views to the west. The ESD resolution was to create a spiral house with highlights to the north, and externally shaded picture windows to the west. Solar hot water, high levels of thermal insulation and thermal mass make this a five star plus house. This house won the RAIA (Vic Chapter) Energy efficiency award in 1996.
